Commander 37th Tank battalion 4th Armored and namesake of the Abrams MBT.Creight W. Abrams when he was Commander of the 37th Tank Battalion during its relief of Bastogne in December of 1944. The burning German vehicle in the background was destroyed by Abram's own tank, after the lead Sherman failed to target it quickly enough to satisfy Col."Abe". He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his leadership in the relief of Bastogne, and went on to lead an exceptional career, which included a major command in Vietnam, and appointment to Army Chief of Staff from 1972 to 74'.
